Birthday Star

This week I had to make a card for a male friend and I always feel challenged when I have to make a masculine card.

This card is very simple but have chosen colours that complement each other.  It is not obvious from the photograph but I have used kraft card and a dark brown cardstock, which are well suited to a man!

I then cut the Sue Wilson dies of Happy Birthday and the Swirling Stars dies, using the cut out stars to stick around the sentiment and using some glossy accents to add some dimension to them.

To finish off the card I used some natural twine which complements the kraft card.

I hope you like this card and I will most probably make some more of these in different colours, as it is clean and simple for a masculine card.

With love and crafty hugs

Happy Birthday Christmas Die!!!

I was quite sad to have missed the Newbury Papercrafting show last weekend as would have loved to have gone, but unfortunately I am still too sore to be out in company or spend too much time on my feet, but thankfully I am recovering well!

I really enjoyed making last weeks card, so decided that this week I would do another card using the same die, the Precious Merieke The Nature of Christmas range.  As you can see it isn't a Christmas card though!

It has such lovely details that I decided I would use it as a birthday card and just by changing the colours and a few flowers it changes the look completely.

I am sure you will agreed that this is an incredibly adaptable die and I think it will come out of my stash on a regular basis.

I also love to use flowers on my cards since learning the techniques from Anna-Marie of Anna-Marie Designs!  I really like the depth, shading and detail they add to a card.

Finally I added the welsh die for Happy Birthday from Tattered Lace, as this is a card for my daughter's birthday who lives in Wales.

Well that is all from me this week and I will hopefully be back next week with something new- will it be Christmas based or not??!

Until then, sending love and crafty hugs.

Well it is July!!!!

I have been missing in action for a short while, so apologise for that.  I had a nasty accident and broke multiple ribs so have not been able to sit on a chair comfortably and it may still be a while before I fully comfortable!

Anyway here I am and this is my first Christmas card of the year!!!!  I know it is only July but as Hochanda and Create & Craft have all their Christmas programmes running, I couldn't help myself.

This card uses a die from the Precious Merieke The Nature of Christmas range but I have used it for other cards, not just Christmas.    The sentiment is one of the new dies by Sue Wilson, the Let It Snow Snowflake die - I can see this die used a lot  You cannot tell from the photograph but I used the Creative Expressions midnight blue pearlescent cardstock which looks lovely.  I used cream cardstock but it would also look really nice in white.  I finished off with a few pearls.

This has to be one of the simplest cards I have made in a while and can see that I may well batch make some of these.

Hopefully I won't be away for much longer and I will be back in full flow with my cards.

With love and crafty hugs (gentle ones!!!)
