Shaving Foam!

Yesterday I attended a class with Julia Watts, and as per usual I had a fantastic day!  We made 3 cards in total but today I am going to share just 1 and will share the rest later in the week.

The last card of the day used the shaving foam technique for the background paper.

This is how I used the shaving foam technique:




Firstly we put some shaving foam into an A4 box and then sprayed inks onto the foam.   For this colour combination I used Decadent Teal and Decadent Grape.

Then we took a pricking tool and swirled it around in the foam to mix the colours together - it had to be enough to make the colours flow into each other but not to much so they lost their definition.

Then we placed our cardstock (in this case coconut white) face down in the foam mixture, and made sure that it all came into contact with the foam by pushing down on it gently.  Remove the card from the foam mixture and with a ruler  remove the excess foam and this leaves an imprint of the ink.

Next we cut out the striplets into the cardstock 4 times, layered this on the cardstock above and then made a frame from the pierced rectangles.

We then stamped the sentiment and cut these out decorating with the leaves and flowers.

I can see that this will be a technique I use time and time again as it is very effective and I could have some good fun playing with lots of colours.

Well today I made a very quick thank you card.  As it was for a man I decided to use navy blue and white, which I always think looks clean and nice.

This is the first time I have used the dragonfly die and really like it layered with the two colours - I did think about using glitter but wanted to keep it low key, but felt it needed a little something so went with some pearls.

For this card I used:

A Crafty Week

Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the Craft Hobby and Stitch International show at the NEC at Birmingham.  This is a Trade show and I attended on behalf of my work as we run craft clubs for blind and visually impaired people

It was a great opportunity to network with businesses and we made some really good contacts, and from a personal perspective I got to see all the new things that are due to be released in 2016 ................... exciting times ahead!

Also, last week I went to Make It in Farnborough with two lovely friends, Trudee and Jo.  I purchased lots of new goodies so hopefully you will see some different things from me soon.  I am always lured by Lavinia Stamps but have never been that great at using them, so have promised myself to have a good go with them this year.  I also love the stamps and sentiments from both Inkylicious and Honey Doo, so treated myself to a few of these.

Finally, I used a set of Trudee's Chameleon pens last week and fell in love with them, so managed to find a second-hand set on ebay .................. so excited about these!

So now my credit card has well and truly been placed back in my pursed and will not see the light of day for a while to come.  Anyhow, here's a quick glance at my new craft stash ............. watch this space!

Class Cards 22nd February 2016

As promised, here are the cards made by lovely ladies that come to my monthly class in Reading.  There are only a few of us but I really love teaching them - we have so much fun!

This week we only managed to make one card as there were a lot of elements to it, and this is only our 6th month of card making.  They were pretty scared to start with but when broken down into smaller elements it really was quite simple. 

I think they were all really pleased with what they produced, and I made the box for one of the ladies as her sister's birthday was imminent!

It never ceases to amaze me how different the same card can looks in other colours - I really liked their colour choices.  I am so proud of them.

I have a new favourite colour!  Yes its teal.  Was a little worried about it initially as it is a strong colour but was really pleased with the finished card as it looks very fresh and clean.

As this turned out better than I expected, I decided to give this challenge to the ladies in my class and they did an amazing job, so I will share those with you on another day!

As there was also quite a lot of dimension on this card I decided to make a box for it too.  It was quite a simple one which made best use of the colours.

It's in the bag!

Well todays project is something a little different.  I recently attended a class with Bev Mizen in Bristol and we made bags!  This is a great project to give with a small gift in or even instead of an envelope.

As promised, I have changed my colour to green!

Valentines Day!

Well I couldn't let valentines day slip by without making at least one card! 

Here is my latest creation which really is a very simple card - you have probably realised by now that I really like cards with just two colours, that are simplistic and clean!

This was simple to make but I think quite effective.
